The smallest thing...

Sometimes it is the smalles thing that keeps us going.  A dear old friend embracing my journey.  A co-worker saying silver hair is attractive.

Grab on to the positive.  Shake away the negative.  This is our journey.  Our lives.  I am so lucky to be right where I am.

  1. I will be cheering you on the whole way!! Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how to get some of the red/gold out of mine(which I looove), so that it's not such a contrast when the brown/silver start growing in. My hubby told me tonight (& he likes to joke & mess w/me), "I guess I'll still love you". Gee, thanks, honey! I guess we all need support from wherever we can get it!

  2. Welcome Michelle! My hair was a dark chestnut brown when I started my transition in Sept. of last year. I was worried the transition would be quite stark and although I do have a lot of silver coming in, its not nearly as dramatic as I expected.

My old color started to yellow and the advice I was given was a baking soda mixed with shampoo mixture and then a rinse with vinegar. I smelled like a salad for two days but it really worked. Crazy!

  3. I've used vinegar mixed with shampoo the last two times I've washed hoping it would help remove some of the color. It's lightening the color toward the roots, but not really doing much at the bottom where there is more cumulative color. I'm going to keep trying different things. My color is supposed to be a demi-permanent, but it's never washed out before. I guess it's good that it's lightening closer to the roots so that at least it will blend better there.

  4. Michelle, I agree that the vinegar/baking soda does little for the color on the ends but it has helped remove some of the brassy-ness. If you do find something that helps removed color from the ends, please pass the info along!
